SSA teacher died in GB Hospital, family alleged Medical negligence
Once again gross medical negligence reported from state’s main referral hospital (GB Hospital), where on Sunday a government teacher succumbed to death during treatment allegedly after pushing a wrong injection.
One Ohibar Debnath (53) of West Hawaibari area of Teliamura under Khowai district and Sharva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teacher was admitted to GB Hospital from Teliamura hospital on Saturday midnight, who was also a regular patient of Dr Samresh Paul, posted in the same hospital as neurologist.
But, during treatment on Sunday afternoon Ohibar Debnath died within a few minutes after a nurse pushed him an injection. Claiming medical negligence, the family member deceased teacher alleged that due to gross negligence by on-duty doctors and nurses, Ohibar Debnath died, who was suffering from less haemoglobin and less potassium related ailment.
After the incident, the daughters and other relatives of the deceased man staged a protest inside the medical ward of the hospital and created a massive chaotic situation. Later, police rushed to the spot and defused the tension.
The family members of the deceased man also lodged their complaint before the police and claimed that Dr Samaresh Paul, who is practicing in a private clinic (Medicaid) is solely responsible for the untimely death of their kin.
