Stalemate over seat adjustment among CPI (M) and Congress continues
The stalemate over the seat adjustment among oppositions CPI(M) and Congress has continued over nomination of candidates in five assembly seats by both parties.
Just one day before the last day of nomination, both parties till last report unable to finalize their seat sharing and the impasse was still going on.
As per the seat adjustment, Left Front candidates are contesting in the February 16 assembly polls 47 seats and left 13 seats vacant for their poll partner Congress.
But, on Saturday the Central Election Committee of Congress released the names of 17 candidates, which created massive confusion among the supporters of both parties.
Earlier, CPI(M) fielded their candidate Sudip Sarkar from 4-Barjal (SC) reserved assembly constituency, but on Saturday Congress also nominated Sista Mohan Das for the same constituency.
Similarly, LF fielded Forward Bloc candidate Partha Sarkar from 14-Badharghat seat and Congress named Raj Kumar Sarkar as their candidate. CPI(M) nominated youth party leader Sanjoy Das from 10-Majlishpur seat and Congress also nominated Keshav Sarkar from the same seat.
For 31-Radhakishore seat LF nominated RSP candidate Srikanta Datta and Congress nominated Titan Pal for the same seat. In another seat 50-Pabiacherra (SC) reserved seat LF nominated Samiran Malakar, but Congress has also named Satyaban Das as their candidate.
While, amidst confusion, the day-long meeting with leaders of both parties , so far no final conclusion has been taken by the leaders to resolve the impasse over candidate list.
When contacted, the senior leaders of both CPI(M) and Congress denied sharing any details over their seat adjustment meeting , but assured that all issues will be solved through amicable discussion among the leaders of both parties.
