Students have to play a vital role to restore democracy in Tripura, Manik Sarkar
Time has always changed character and the present situation of the state is also changing rapidly and all people including students have to play vital roles for coming movements to restore the democracy in the state, said opposition leader Manik Sarkar.
Addressing the 20th state conference of Students’ Federation of India (SFI), held at Agartala Town Hall on Tuesday, Sarkar appeals to students to increase their public contact and conquer divisive politics of the ruling party.
"Students of the state have to play a strong and concrete role in the coming greatest movements to restore the proper atmosphere for education and they have to connect with more and more students for the coming movements, ", said Sarkar.
While castigating the rule of both central and state governments for introduction of new education policy, Sarkar said that the new policy does not have any presence and secular and democratic spirit of the country.
Highlighting the rule of the previous Left Front government for expansion of education across the state, Sarkar previous governments had budget allocation of about 21 to 23 % for education and the present government by decreasing it handing over the education system to private parties.
Sarkar, mentioning the four and half years old rule of BJP government in Tripura alleged that they have snatched the democratic rights of common people and has also snatched rights of education for poor people by introducing the privatization in education system.
The situation rapidly changed and within four and half years of time, altogether 6 MLAs belonging to ruling parties had resigned and highlighted the betrayal politics of the BJP government, said Sarkar and urged the people to take the advantage of changing situation and should create massive resistance against the violent politics of the ruling part.
‘Just 10 months before the next assembly elections, the central leadership of BJP had changed the chief minister of state, but they did not change their policies of deprivation,’, said Sarkar and added that by changing chief minister ruling BJP cannot overruled the 55 months long politics violence and misgovernance.
"A total anarchy and total lawlessness prevails across the state and all people united should resist them to restore the rules of law and democracy in the state," said Sarkar and appealed to all student leaders to visit educational campuses and connect with more students.
