An awareness campaign on ‘Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation-2024’ (SVEEP) was inaugurated by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura, Puneet Agarwal at the MBB Satabarshiki Bhavan in Tripura University on Tuesday.

The awareness campaign and the workshop has been organized by District Election officer and the DM of West Tripura district and speaking in the awareness campaign and interaction with students Puneet Agarwal said that in order to increase participation of voters in the democratic process of elections in the country, the Election Commission of India (ECI) started this awareness campaign across the country from 2009.

The campaign aims and is the flagship program of the ECI for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. It is a multi-intervention programme that reaches out through different modes and media to educate citizens, electors, and voters about the electoral process in order to increase their awareness and promote their informed participation, said Agarwal.

The Commission produces several voter awareness materials and disseminates the same through various mediums, platforms of communication to inform the voters of the country for their participation in the democratic process.

In the electoral process all people irrespective of their caste, creed and economic position have equal rights to cast their votes, which has established social equality, said Agarwal and urged the participating students to cast their votes and also motivate their neighbours to exercise their franchise.
