TCW wants stringent punishment to accused husband, who stabbed his wife in office
Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) takes the incident of stabbing a woman Tehsildar by her husband at her office very seriously and urges the police administration to ensure stringent punishment to the accused husband.
On Wednesday, one Tehsildar Pampa Deb working at Dharmanagar Town Tehsil, was attacked by her husband with a knife and accused of intoxicated condition, stabbed her twice and severely injured her.
After the incident, amidst hue and cry in the entire office complex, Pampa Deb was shifted to Dharmanagar hospital, later in the evening she was referred to GB Hospital in critical condition.
On Thursday, the chairperson of TCW Barnali Goswami visited GB Hospital and met the injured lady. She also enquired about her treatment.
Later, speaking with media persons Mrs Goswami said that it’s a total inhumane and brutal incident.
Strongly condemning the barbaric act of the accused husband Jewel Datta, Mrs Goswami said that though after the incident police had arrested the accused and she demanded stringent punishment.
Mrs Goswami said that after marriage, often victim woman Pumpa Deb suffered atrocities being committed by her husband and her addicted husband often physically harassed her for money.
After Pumpa Deb and her family decided to get divorce, accused husband Jewel Datta went berserk and on Wednesday, he entered the office room of Pumpa Deb and asked her why she filed divorce application. When, Pumpa Deb in reply said that she is now consulting to an advocate to get divorce, instantly Jewel Datta started stabbing her with a knife. As a result, Pumpa got two stabbing injuries in her hand and in her abdomen. She also alleged that the accused husband often indulged in quarreling with his wife over a tendency of doubt.
