Ten years of imprisonment for killing a kiln worker
The District and Session Judge of West Tripura district on Thursday sentenced a brick kiln worker to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for killing his colleague.
Giving details of the case, public prosecutor (PP) advocate Biswajit Deb said that on November 14, 2021 night after during a boozing party at the complex of Joy Bricks industries at Nowabadi area under Jirnai police station, accused Banddhan Jhara of Jharkhand state engaged quarreling with one of his colleague and kiln labourer Johan Tapno and suddenly assaulted him with a lathi at his head.
After the incident, injured Johan Tapno shifted to Jirania hospital and after his condition deteriorated , was referred to GB Hospital, where succumbed due to his critical head injuries on November 16, 2021.
Later, police arrested accused kiln worker Banddhan Jhara and submitted a charge-sheet under section 302 of IPC.
Deb said that after hearing, on Thursday the District and Session Judge of West Tripura, Subhasish Sharma sentenced accused persons Banddhan Jhara (33) for 10 years of imprisonment and fine of Rs. 5000 and if the accused unable to pay the fine amount, then additional imprisonment of two more months.
