Three days review meeting to achieve Malaria elimination goal by 2027
The three days long regional review meeting on National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), which has been continuing in Agartala, has detailed discussions towards achievement of the goal of Malaria elimination by 2027.
The regional review meeting of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (GFATM) Project states will come to end on Saturday at Agartala and the meeting has reviewed the state-wise performance and activities, including the district-wise implementation of all the North Eastern States including Eastern states like Orissa, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh and the various achievements made so far.
The review meeting was inaugurated by Additional Secretary of Union Health Minister and Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Ms LS Changsan in presence of Union Joint secretary Rajiv Manjhi and authorities of Tripura government along with officials of participating states.
In the meeting various states are participating to discuss the action plan and strategies regarding elimination of Malaria in respective states.
Ms LS Changsan had interacted personally with the front line workers such as ASHA and Community Health Officers and took their views to assure successful implementation of the programme in the field.
Ms LS Changsan had also visited and evaluated the activities of the Regional Geriatric Centre and Atal Bihari Regional Cancer centre in Agartala on Friday.
NVBDCP central will visit Sepahijala and Dhalai districts of the state on Saturday under the leadership of the joint secretary of Vector Borne Disease control on Saturday and Sunday next to observe the implementation of various activities under Malaria control in Tripura.
In the review meeting, the authorities of the Union Health Ministry have stressed on timely treatment and services to the people.
The meeting has also highlighted that till February, Tripura’s Health department has conducted 1,53,654 blood sample tests for identification of Malaria and among them, Malaria has been detected among 775 people and all of them were given free treatment from the government. This year, there was no fatality due to Malaria in Tripura.
During the review meeting and press conference, the secretary of Health and Family Welfare department Kiran Gitte and other top officials of the Health department were also present.
