Tracks under flood debris, Agartala-Sabroom railway line yet to be ready
Week after the devastating flood, there are very few chances of resumption of local train services in the Agartala-Sabroom-Agartala routes as on Sunday, many portions of the tracks are still under the debris of flood and landslides.
Sources said that large number of passengers, specially daily passengers including students and government employees, who are daily travelling in the Agartala-Sabroom route through morning local and returned back to the home through evening train are optimistic over resumption of train from Monday, which will also resolve their suffering of travelling long distances by road.
Sources in the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said amidst continuous clearing of debris and necessary maintenance of tracks in the portion of Garzi, Santirbazar, Julaibari and Sabroom, with engagement of hundreds of labourers and machines, still track is not ready for plying of passenger trains.
Specially, the Railway workers are especially facing severe hardship to clear the tracks from massive landslides and at present there are very less chances of resumption of train services within the next two days.
