Tripura detected 8 fresh Covid positive cases after long gap, no death
As a few parts of the country are witnessing a surge of fresh Covid positive cases after a gap of few months, Tripura has now detected Covid positive cases from West Tripura Unakoti districts of the state and Tuesday , altogether 8 positive cases detected.
As per the media bulletin on Covid-19 issued by the Health department on April 17 stated that with detection of 6 positive cases three each from West and Unakoti district, the total active cases of the state now stand at 10 with zero death in the past 24 hours.
Sources in the Health department of Unakoti district said that on April 15, the Panisagar hospital of the district tested and found three positive cases and among them one has travel history from Maharashtra state. All three positive patients were put on ‘home isolation’ with the necessary treatment kit.
District Surveillance Officer (DSO) Dr Sankha Subhra Debnath said that during contact tracing of two positive patients, the health workers on Tuesday (April 18) detected two more positive cases from the family members of one earlier tested positive person, who have mild symptoms.
He said that on Tuesday the department has collected their samples for RT PCR test from all five positive cases of the district and whole genome sequencing , their samples have also been sent to Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) to find the strain of the virus.
Dr Debnath appealed to the people to maintain Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) and be alert as few parts of the country are now witnessing a surge in the positive cases.
While, as per media bulletin, the death toll of Covid now stand at 937 with a fatality rate of 0.87 % and after testing 639 samples through RTPCT and Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), 6 positive cases detected in past 24-hours with positivity rate of 0.94%. Now, the recovery rate of the state stands at 99.06 %.
Though few parts of the country have seen a spike in coronavirus cases in the recent past, but hospitalization remains low. Experts have maintained that there is no need to panic and people should follow Covid-appropriate behaviour and get booster shots of vaccines.
It may be recalled here that as per instructions of the Union Health Ministry, the mock drills were conducted at various hospitals across Tripura on April 11 to check COVID-19 preparedness. Medical experts say the new XBB.1.16 variant of the virus could be driving the surge in many parts of the country.
