Tripura gearing up for G-20 Science Summit, foreign delegates coming on Sunday
The much awaited G-20 Science Summit will be held at Agartala from April 3rd to 4th with the theme of “Clean energy for a Green Future” and to make the event a success, massive preparation has been taken to attract the foreign delegates with hospitality and through tourism.
Giving details of the summit, Abhishek Chandra , the secretary of Industries and Commerce department addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat accompanied by the secretary of Information and Cultural Affairs department Pradip Kumar Chakraborty and Secretary of Urban Development of department Abhishek Singh said that the main programme of the science summit will be held at the indoor exhibition hall of Hapania international fair ground, where representatives of 14 countries of G-20 will participate along with 9 additional countries, central representatives of India.
He said a total of 85 to 90 delegates will participate in the summit.
As per the tour schedules, G – 20 delegates are reaching Agartala on 2nd April, 2023 for the Science conclave for “Clean Energy for a Green Future” to be held in Tripura at Hapania on April 3rd. “Clean energy for a Green Future” is the theme of the Science Event.
Further, the G – 20 delegates are expected to visit Albert Ekka Park, Neermahal Palace, Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, Purbasha and Oxygen Park.
He said that the state administration has taken a number of initiatives to beautify the city for welcoming the G – 20 delegates. Some of the works include installing the statue of S. D. Barman at Albert Ekka Park, beautification at Albert Ekka Park, construction of musical fountain at Kumaritila and beautifying the Ujjayanta Palace and Neermahal Palace. The light and sound show has been set-up at two locations are at Ujjayanta Palace and at Neermahal Palace. City branding of Agartala and Sepahijala has been undertaken with improvement of roads and footpaths.
Also 4 balloons at various locations are being installed. . At Neermahal ramps have been made using traditional ‘Saal’ wood. The cleaning of the lake as well as deploying 4 new speed boats is an attraction that would showcase Tripura on a global platform as a preferred location for the tourist to visit in the future.
G – 20 nations comprise 85% of world GDP, 75% of world trade and ¾ of the world population. This entire group is one of the most influential as well as economically developed groups to lead the world and with India assuming its presidency. Lot of initiatives are to be taken under the chairmanship of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tripura is one of these 65 cities that were short listed to bring the delegates to India. The delegates would be coming by the Chartered flight on April 2nd .
Under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, the delegates would be received and welcomed at the Governor’s residence for a dinner. The Chief Minister also consented to meet the delegates in the State Guest House on April 2nd and lastly Chief Minister would grace the venue at Hapania as the chief inaugurator for the exhibition that will showcase more than 55 stalls (this is the largest exhibition for G – 20 delegates).
The Chief Minister with the Councils Minister would be welcoming the delegates at a gala dinner at Ujjayanta and the government believe that the delegates will visit again Tripura as they would be planting the G-20 trees as a mark of friendship between Tripura and other comity of nations at Albert Ekka Park and Oxygen park during their stay in Tripura.
