Tripura HC to go for digital transaction
Tripura HC to go for digital transaction
For the first time across India, the High Court of Tripura under the stewardship of Chief Justice T. Amarnath Goud has come up with an idea to make the process of payment of court fees and others in digital mode.
In an interactive meeting held at the High Court Lobby on Friday, Chief Justice Goud accompanied by Justice Arindam Lodh shared his idea with stakeholders- lawyers, bank officials and staff of the High Court. If everything falls in the right direction, the High Court plans to introduce the process shortly to turn cashless. With this, the lawyers and their clerks can make payment of court fees and others using a unique security card solely issued by the UCO Bank, High Court Branch, who are one of the stakeholders of the proposed plan.
On receiving the payment, a print-out receipt containing details of the transaction will be given to the payee on spot. This unique security card will have two features- unlike ATM cards this card can’t be used for purposes other than for which it is meant and therefore, misuse of it is also prevented. The necessity of such cards has arisen due to shortage of small denominations both to the payee and the payer. Expectedly, the initiative will be first implemented in the High Court and will soon be followed in all other courts in the state. The meeting was attended by members of the High Court Bar Association, Registrar General Viswajeet Pandey, UCO Bank officials, top officials and staff of High Court.
