Tripura Medical College and Agartala Medical College won ‘Best’ in NE Region under NTEP
Tripura has been declared the best performing state among all the medical colleges in North Eastern region in terms of implementation of National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme. The Zonal Task Force meeting in Guwahati yesterday reviewed the performance of all government and private medical colleges in the North Eastern region on various indicators of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.
Tripura was declared the best on the basis of performance. Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital and Tripura Medical College in the state have topped on 5 indicators of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme in 2022. These 5 indicators are: the number of TB patients enrolled in medical colleges among the total enrolled TB patients in the state, the number of TB patients enrolled in medical colleges among the total enrolled children TB patients in the state, the number of TB patients enrolled in medical colleges among the total enrolled children TB patients in the state excluding lungs, testing under CBNAAT Mission, detection of diabetes and HIV among tuberculosis patients in the state under machine-based tuberculosis testing, number of training under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.
The Zonal Task Force meeting was attended by Professor of Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital and Specialist Physician in the Department of Microbiology Dr. Tapan Majumdar, Dr. Shib Shekhar Dutta of Tripura Medical College and State Officer of National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme Dr. Nupur Debbarma, Consultant of World Health Organization Dr. Sanjib Jha and others. Tripura has set a precedent in implementation of the programme under the National Health Mission. This was informed in a press release from Tripura branch of National Health Mission.
