TSF called 12-hrs Tripura Bandh on Aug 28th demanding Roman script for Kokborok
The Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF) demanding Roman script for Kokborok language called the 12-hour Tripura Bandh on Monday.
The leaders of TSF addressing a press conference at Agartala press club on Saturday afternoon said that since the past 50 years, the students and people of indigenous community have demanding the same, but nothing has happened so far.
They said that two months ago, they gave a memorandum before the Governor of Tripura demanding a Roman script, but after two months, there was no response from the government.
“Why the government so negligent towards the legitimate demands of indigenous people and they are depriving the people,” said the secretary of TSF.
They also demanded placing of 125th Amendment Bill in Parliament for greater interest of indigenous people and also urged all student unions of the state to support their demand and make the August 28th strike a grand success.
The TSF leaders have also urged the people of the state to participate in their movements and believe their movements will receive spontaneous response from a cross section of society as their demands are not against any community.
They also urged the state government to take all positive steps for greater interest of students and fulfill the long pending demand of Roman script for Kokborok language.
