TSR jawan commits suicide through service rifle

In a tragic incident one TSR jawans posted at 13th battalion headquarters at Kanchanpur committed suicide through his service rifle after he was repeatedly denied for leave by the higher echelon of the battalion.
Sources said that the deceased TSR jawan identified as Sarat Singh was posted on sentry duty as quarter guard on Sunday midnight at the battalion headquarters at Das Para area of Kanchanpur, who was suffering from mental distress after he was repeatedly denied leave allegedly by one Assistant Commandant Rajesh Bardhan.
On Sunday midnight after 12 o’clock, some jawans hearing fire shot, rushed to the spot in front of the quarter guard building and found Rifleman Sarat Singh was lying in a pool of blood and his INSAS rifle near his hand. Singh committed suicide through his service rifle by firing a round direct on his head.
Sources added that before his suicide attempt, Singh removed his belt, cap and other gears nearby ground and committed suicide.
TSR sources said the body of the deceased jawan on Monday morning shifted to hospital morgue for autopsy and informed bereaved family members.
