Two dacoity in Agartala: Police detain 13 persons for interrogation, intensify night surveillance
After 40 hours of two dreaded dacoity incidents in two separate parts of Agartala , the capital city police still clueless and only detained 13 persons for interrogation, who were previously involved with dacoity and other stolen incidents.
Police sources said that, though they have intensified patrolling along with night patrolling in all vulnerable areas of the city after two dacoity incidents at Ghosh-Para in Aralia and Paul Para of Baldakhal areas.
Sources said that police have deployed Central Arms Police Forces (CAPF) for night patrolling in Aralia and Baldakhal area along with other sensitive patches of the city.
The investigation team of two dacoity incidents has so far detained 13 persons to get some clue of the miscreants involved with Thursday night rampage, in which a group of dacoits had injured three persons and looted cash and gold jewelleries from two houses.
In two dreaded dacoity incidents in two different parts of Agartala city on Thursday midnight, a group of dacoits raided two houses with lethal arms, injured three persons and looted gold ornaments and cash amount.
SP(West) Kiran Kumar said that a massive investigation is going on to nab all accused persons involved with both incidents and investigation teams have also got some important clues. But, he does not want to be disclosed before the media and added that soon police will get success. Kumar also assured the city dwellers that large numbers of security forces were deployed across the city to control the movements of anti-social elements.
It may be recalled here that within one week of dacoity incident in Chandpur area of Khayerpur, a suspected group of dacoits has once again committed two incidents, which has sparks tension of city dwellers over their safety and security, whereas major parts of city in the midnight remains unguarded due to inactiveness of police.
On Thursday midnight at about 2 AM, a group of six armed dacoits raided the house of one Mihir Debnath (65) at Ghosh-Para of Aralia under East Agartala police station. After entering his house from the backyard, robbers first broke the door of the room in which Mihir Debnath was sleeping along with his wife. Soon after entering the room, miscreants with sharp weapons started attacking Mr Debnath and he has also engaged in scuffle with miscreants and has tried to resist them, but robbers attacked him with sharp ‘Dao’ and severely injured. They had also thrashed his wife and dacoits had snatched a gold chain from Mihir Debnath’s wife and a cash amount of Rs. 40,000.
Within 30 minutes of dacoity at Ghosh-Para, suspected dacoits had also raided the house of one Sanjoy Paul of Paul Para of Baldakhal under East Agartala police station. Miscreants entered into the rooms of Sanjoy Paul with sharp weapons and under point of arms, they tied Sanjoy Paul and started looting all gold ornaments from elderly mother, wife and daughter. Dacoits had also managed to find a bundle of cash Rs. 70,000, which was collected by Sanjoy Paul for treatment of his mother.
Then, dacoits escaped from the house and inmates of the house started calling their neighbours and relatives.
After both dacoity incidents, police personnel rushed to spots and senior police officials including DG (Intelligence) Anurag and SP (West Tripura) Kiran Kumar swung into action and started investigation. Police have also brought dog squads, forensic and fingerprint expert teams to collect evidence.
