Two traders detained from MG Bazar for selling duplicate Tulsi tobacco
Based on the complaint registered by renowned DS group over duplicate sale of their premium tobacco product ‘Tulsi Zarda’, the Agartala city police on Sunday recovered large quantities of duplicate products and detained two traders involved in the trade.
Giving details, SDPO (Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said that recently, the DS Group company based in Noida registered a complaint at East Agartala police station over selling of their brand through duplicate products.
Based on the complaint, the city police started an investigation and in association with company personnel of DS Group on Sunday morning raided a few shops in MG Bazar area of Agartala. During the raid, police recovered about 50 cartoons of Tulsi Zarda from two shops and have also detained the owners of these shops.
Roy said that as per the information provided by the DS Group, a Kolkata based fake company started distribution of duplicate products and through retailers they are selling this product in the shops of Agartala.
He said that in the primary stage of investigation, two traders were found involved with the selling of duplicate Tulsi Zarda and after interrogation, the details of the nexus can be unearthed. SDPO (Sadar) also said that police have started investigation to find out the entire route of the duplicate products and will act accordingly as per the findings of investigation.
