The company is also laying off employees from its Intelligent Systems Experience team, part of Apple’s software engineering organization that works on several AI-powered features across its devices, according to people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reported.

As part of the restructuring, Apple is largely shutting down a Vision Pro team focused on gaming for the headset and reducing the size of another unit responsible for producing immersive video content for the device, the report said.

The people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the personnel changes have not been publicly announced, said the cuts affect more than 200 employees. Around 100 positions are reportedly being eliminated from the Vision Pro organization, while another 100 jobs are being cut across the Siri and software teams.

The move comes as Apple seeks to concentrate resources on emerging technologies, particularly AI, while continuing to develop new hardware products.

In a statement, Apple acknowledged that it was realigning some teams “to evolve our business to deliver the best experiences for our users.”

“While we will create new roles as part of this change, it will also impact a limited number of existing roles,” the company said, as quoted by Bloomberg.

“We are grateful to these team members for their contributions, and we are committed to supporting them throughout their transition, including opportunities to apply for other roles at Apple,” the company added.
