Nagaland: New Jalukie daily market inaugurated, boosting economic prospects for the community
ADC Jalukie, TL Kiusumong Tikhir, NCS, inaugurated the newly established New Jalukie Daily Market on 20th June 2023. The event was attended by members of the New Jalukie Village Council, as well as neighboring village council representatives.

In his speech, ADC Jalukie expressed his enthusiasm, stating that the opening of the daily market marked a significant milestone for the community, with vast opportunities for the entire Jalukie valley, reported Nagaland Tribune.
He expressed hope that the new market would uplift the economic status of the villagers and emphasized the importance of maintaining it as a sustainable source of income.
During the program, Tingsangai John Panmei, Chairperson of the event, provided a brief historical account of the market's establishment. New Jalukie Village, established in 1967, stands as the second largest village and commercial hub in the district, comprising 1,000 households and a population density of 6,000.
Panmei highlighted the vision of past leaders who recognized the need for a market and initiated the establishment of a weekly market in April 1996. Land acquisition for the market complex occurred during the tenure of Lt. Lumthai's chairmanship, and the necessary permits were obtained during the leadership of SP Dinsalak.
The recent upgradation of the market, after 27 years, was made possible through the efforts of the present Council Chairman, Liangkebo Pamei, Chairman BDB, Ginbonlung, VCMs, and GBs of New Jalukie Village.
The dedicatory prayer was led by Pastor LBP, Kendinbo, adding a solemn touch to the inauguration ceremony.
Previously known as the weekly or Thursday market, the rebranded New Jalukie Daily Market holds promising prospects for the community, boosting economic growth and providing opportunities for both villagers and visitors alike.
