Sensex closes at new high of 72,708.16 pts
The equity market remained strong for the fifth consecutive session on Monday as the BSE Sensex closed a new high at 72,708.16' advancing 281.52 pts on positive global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 81.55 pts at 22,122.25.
The NSE registered days high and low at 22,186.65 and 22,021.05 pts respectively.
The Sensex surged 201 pts at 72,627.60 in the opening session. During the day's it was spurted 455.29 pts to 22,881.93' days high's before closing at 72,708.16'up 281.52 pts from its previous close.
The sticks like Consunmer Durable rose by 1.76 pc followed by Telcom Services by 1.52 pc, Utilities by 1.29 pc and BSE services by 1.22 pc.
The Mid Cap rose 0.29 pc and Small Cap by 0.77 pc.
In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.
The gainers were Bajaj Finserv by 2.83 pc to Rs 1620.15, ICICI bank by 2.03 pc to Rs 1043.55, Bharti Airtel by 2 pc to Rs 1142.20 and Bajaj Finanve by 1.41 pc to Rs 6714.60.
The losers were L& T by 1.45 pc to Rs 3339.95, Wipro by 1.45 pc to Rs 535.25, IndusInd bank by 0.76 pc to Rs 1482.80 and TCS by 0.67 pc to Rs 4101.60.
The Asian market was seen strong as Strait Times was up by 0.12 pc, Taiwan Weight by 0.15 pc and Kospi by 1.18 pc.
