10-year-old girl dies in leopard attack in Maharashtra's Kolhapur
Kolhapur/UNI: A 10-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard at Kedarlingwadi In Shahuwadi tehsil of Kohlapur district in Maharashtra on Wednesday.
The girl along with her mother was taking their domestic animals for grazing outside the village in the morning when a leopard suddenly pounced on the girl and attacked her, police said.
On not hearing any sound of her daughter who was trailing behind, the mother looked for her and saw the leopard pulling her daughter away. She immediately raised an alarm.
Upon hearing her cries for help, the big cat ran off from the spot, leaving the fatally injured girl behind.
The girl died of serious injuries to her neck, sources added.
The deceased was identified as Manisha Babaji Doiphode, a resident of Kedarlingwadi in Shahuwadi tehsil of the district.
