Bangladesh plans to administer fourth COVID-19 booster shot from Dec 20
Dhaka: The Bangladesh government is planning to administer the fourth dose of the COVID-19 in Dhaka on Dec 20, media reports said.
Initially, the shot will be available at seven vaccination centres on a trial basis. Later on Jan 1, the campaign will be expanded to inoculate people above the age of 60, frontline workers and those suffering from comorbidities, according to the health directorate, reports bdnews24.
The Pfizer vaccine will be administered as the fourth dose.
Those who have taken the booster shot will be eligible for it.
Ahmedul Kabir, additional director general of health services, told the news portal: " Selected people will be informed about the fourth dose through SMS a day before their vaccination. Those who receive the experimental vaccine will be kept under observation for two weeks."
Meanwhile, US Department of State tweeted: " The U.S. donated an additional 6 million pediatric Pfizer vaccine doses to Bangladesh via #COVAX, with total U.S. vaccine doses donated to Bangladesh now reaching nearly 108 million. Together, we can protect ourselves and our communities from COVID-19 by getting vaccinated."
