'Covid-19 is no longer a global health emergency': WHO
Geneva/IBNS: The World Health Organization (WHO)Friday said Covid-19 is no longer a global health emergency.
The decision was taken after Covid-19's Emergency Committee met for the 15th time and recommended the same.
In a tweet, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said: "Yesterday, the #COVID19 Emergency Committee met for the 15th time and recommended to me that I declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern. I have accepted that advice."
"With great hope I declare COVID-19 over as a global health emergency," he said.

In January 2020, the organization declared the coronavirus outbreak to be a public health emergency of international concern about six weeks before characterizing it as a pandemic.
Following WHO's announcement, the United States decided to let its Covid-19 public health emergency end on May 11.
Covid-19 continues to spread, the virus is evolving and remains a global health threat, but at a lower level of concern, according to WHO officials.
