Delhi records season's lowest temp at 1.4 degrees today, IMD issues yellow alert
New Delhi/UNI: As another cold wave spell sets over Northwest India, Delhi has recorded the season's lowest temperature of 1.4 degrees on Monday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a yellow alert in Delhi for the next six days owing to the upcoming severe coldwave in the national capital region.
According to the IMD the minimum temperature of 1.4 degree is six degrees below normal at Safdarjung Observatory for this time of the year and the second lowest minimum temperature recorded in January in a decade.
The last time a lower minimum temperature was recorded at Safdarjung was 1.1 degree Celsius in January 2021.
At Lodhi Road, the minimum temperature was 1.6 degrees while it was 2 degrees at the Ridge and 5.3 degrees at the IGI Airport, Palam.
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted a clear sky today with Maximum temperature hovering around 18 degrees celsius.
Apart from Delhi, other states including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are also likely to observe severe cold wave conditions till January 18, the IMD said, adding that Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir may see moderate rainfall or snowfall from January 18.
Earlier the agency said, over the week ahead, the minimum temperature is likely to rise to around 7 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature could also return to around 21 degree Celsius.
