Freezing cold, dry weather continues in Kashmir
Srinagar/UNI: Freezing cold coupled with dry weather and a drop in night temperature continues in Kashmir valley on Sunday.
Pahalgam in south Kashmir remained the coldest place in the Kashmir valley with the temperature plummeting to minus 4.5 degree Celsius on Sunday.
The Meteorological Department forecast dry weather to continue in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, had a low of minus 3.2 degree Celsius against the previous night's minus 2.4 degrees Celsius. It was minus 1.7 degrees Celsius below normal during this period of the season.
Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday against the minus 4.3 degrees Celsius recorded a day ago. It was 0.1 degree Celsius below normal for the valley of shepherds during this time of the season.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir had a low of minus 1.5 degree Celsius against minus 2.0 degrees Celsius recorded the previous night.
Interestingly it was 3.3 degrees Celsius above normal for the valley of meadow during this period of the season.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius while Kukernag recorded a low of minus 0.7 degree Celsius.
The frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara had a low of minus 3.7 degree Celsius against minus 3.8 degrees Celsius recorded the previous night which was minus 1.3 degree Celsius below normal for the place in north Kashmir, the MeT office said.
