The seminar will focus on the theme “Indian Energy Basket 2047: Prospects and Challenges” and will bring together 24 district-level student champions for detailed deliberations on India’s energy transition.
The event will provide a platform for young scientific minds from across West Bengal to present their research, ideas and actionable insights on the country’s evolving energy landscape.
Following presentations by the 24 district-level winners, the best-performing speaker will be selected to represent West Bengal at the National Science Seminar 2026, scheduled to be held on October 30 at the National Science Centre in New Delhi.
The seminar is being organised in association with the Directorate of Youth Services, Government of West Bengal, and the Royal Society of Chemistry, Eastern India Section. The event aims to encourage critical thinking, scientific inquiry and technical communication skills among students.
The session will be inaugurated in the presence of experts and officials, including:
- Chief Guest: Prof. Santi Pada Gon Chaudhuri, renewable energy and power sector expert and former Director of the West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA)
- Guest of Honour: Shri Pijush Kanti Das, WBCS (Exe.), Director of Youth Services, Government of West Bengal
