The employee claimed that the introduction of AI systems at his workplace has significantly shortened deadlines while increasing overall work expectations, making it difficult to cope with the workload.

In a detailed Reddit post titled “I am about to resign from my job because of AI”, he described how his work environment has changed. He wrote that while the team previously worked under tight deadlines that were occasionally adjusted, the situation worsened after the introduction of Claude AI licenses.

“Ever since my manager got us Claude licenses, the deadlines have shrunk so much that it has become impossible to meet them,” he stated.

He added that while AI can generate large volumes of code quickly, it often introduces hidden bugs that require significant time for review and debugging. According to him, this additional workload is not accounted for by management, who assume AI tools guarantee near-perfect output.

“AI produces a huge amount of code in a small amount of time. This code sometimes hides some bugs. I have to spend a good amount of time reviewing it and fixing issues. However, management does not consider this when setting deadlines. They think AI is a magic wand that produces perfect outcomes,” he wrote.

Expressing dissatisfaction with his current workplace, he further stated that there is little professional growth and ongoing financial instability within the company. He also described a high-pressure culture where most tasks are labelled “ASAP,” “urgent,” or “priority,” making it difficult to take time off.

“The culture in our team is such that I feel like a school kid who will be reprimanded if I don’t complete my homework on time,” he added.

Despite acknowledging the challenges in the job market, the employee said he believes he is skilled enough to find another opportunity and has decided to resign to protect his mental well-being.

The post sparked widespread discussion on social media, with users sharing mixed reactions.

“Same issue everywhere. I quit my job which also had similar deadline pressure… but the next job wasn’t much different,” one user commented, advising caution before resigning.

Another warned, “Don’t resign without another offer. The job market is brutal. Do what it takes to stay without letting it get to your mind.”

A third user added, “This is what happens when everything gets AI automated to the brim. I hope you find a better place.”
