Loreto College hosts job fair and signs MoU to strengthen academic collaboration
Kolkata: Loreto College hosted its job fair, "Recruitment Rendezvous 2026", on February 18, bringing together employers and students in an initiative aimed at strengthening industry-academia engagement and promoting women’s empowerment.
The event was organised by the college’s Placement Cell, with support from the Career Counselling Cell and Internal Quality Assurance Cell, in collaboration with the Bharat Chamber of Commerce.
Vandana Yadav, IAS, principal secretary of the Industry, Commerce and Enterprises Department, Government of West Bengal, attended as chief guest.
She spoke about the evolving role of women in the workforce and said such initiatives help students better understand their strengths and career goals.
Naresh Pachisia, president of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, emphasised the importance of closer collaboration between academia and industry and expressed willingness for future partnerships with the college.
A panel discussion titled “The New Professional Currency: Leveraging Your Academic Journey into a Powerful Brand” examined the role of artificial intelligence in recruitment and the growing importance of personal branding.

Speakers agreed that while technology is reshaping hiring practices, adaptability, resilience and ethical values remain critical to long-term professional success.
The job fair featured 30 organisations across sectors, including finance and banking, healthcare, education, consulting, technology, media, hospitality and real estate, drawing participation from students representing 70 colleges across Kolkata.
On February 17, Loreto College also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Bhawanipur Education Society College to promote academic collaboration.

The agreement aims to foster interdisciplinary exchange, shared research initiatives and faculty engagement, strengthening institutional cooperation within Kolkata’s higher education sector.
College authorities said the partnership is intended to enhance academic opportunities and encourage sustained collaboration between the two institutions.
