Modi's big push: PM meets top deeptech CEOs, backs India as global AI powerhouse
Narendra Modi on Friday held a roundtable interaction with CEOs of AI and deeptech startups at Seva Teerth, commending innovators for taking bold risks and developing impactful, population-scale solutions across sectors.
According to an official statement, the participating startups are addressing key national challenges. In healthcare, companies are deploying artificial intelligence for advanced diagnostics, gene therapy and efficient patient record management to extend quality care to the last mile. In agriculture, startups are leveraging geospatial and underwater intelligence to enhance productivity and mitigate climate-related risks.
The roundtable also featured ventures working in cybersecurity, ethical AI, space technology, vernacular access to justice and education, and modernising legacy systems to boost enterprise productivity.
“Together, they reflect an ecosystem addressing local needs while building global leadership in AI-driven innovation,” the statement said.
The startup leaders lauded India’s sustained push to strengthen its artificial intelligence ecosystem, highlighting the sector’s rapid growth and vast untapped potential.
They noted that the global momentum of AI innovation and deployment is increasingly shifting towards India, which they described as offering a supportive and dynamic environment for AI advancement.
The CEOs also praised the India AI Impact Summit, calling it a testament to the country’s rising influence in shaping global AI discourse.
During the interaction, Modi emphasised the transformative potential of AI in areas such as agriculture and environmental protection, including monitoring crop productivity and fertiliser usage to safeguard soil health.
Stressing the importance of promoting Indian languages and culture, he called for expanding AI tools to support higher education in mother tongues.
The Prime Minister underscored the need for robust data governance frameworks, cautioned against misinformation, and urged the development of AI solutions tailored to India’s specific needs.
Referring to UPI as a model of simple, scalable digital innovation, he expressed confidence in Indian enterprises and encouraged greater trust in domestic products.
He also advocated expanded private participation in the space sector, noting strong investor interest in Indian startups.
The meeting was attended by CEOs and founders of Abridge, Adalat AI, BrainSightAI, Credo AI, Eka Care, Glean, Innogle, Invideo, Miko, Origin, Prophaze, Rasen, Rubrik, SatSure, Supernova and Sypha AI. Principal Secretary P.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary-2 Shaktikanta Das and Minister of State Jitin Prasada were also present.
