Besides Abhishek Banerjee, other TMC leaders booked in the case include Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien and Humayun Kabir.

The case has been registered at Shakespeare Sarani Police Station under Sections 191(2), 191(3), 190, 121(1), 74, 3(5) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Clash over removal of TMC billboard

The FIRs come a day after a confrontation broke out between Banerjee and Kolkata Police personnel after a team of police officers and Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials arrived at his Camac Street office to remove TMC billboards.

Banerjee objected to the action and questioned the officials about the legal basis for removing the billboards.

He asked the team to produce a copy of the order authorising the removal as well as the complaint letter on which the action was reportedly based.

The TMC leader also alleged that police personnel were attempting to enter the office premises without proper authorisation.

Scuffle breaks out

The situation escalated when civic officials entered the office premises and removed the party's billboard, triggering a scuffle involving TMC leaders, their security personnel and police officers.

During the clash, some TMC members were seen allegedly assaulting police personnel.

The incident prompted the police to initiate a case, with 13 people arrested so far in connection with the clash.

TMC puts up billboard again

Late on Thursday night, TMC leaders once again erected a billboard in front of the party office.

The development has further intensified the confrontation between the ruling party and the Kolkata Police over the removal of the billboard.
