Air hostess, who was on a ventilator, 'sexually assaulted' by hospital staff in Gurugram

An air hostess has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a hospital staff when she was on a ventilator at a private hospital in Gurugram city.
The incident came to light after the air hostess registered a complaint where she alleged that she was sexually assaulted while she was lying unconscious on the ventilator.
The victim, who had come to Gurugram for airline training, initially fell ill after nearly drowning in a hotel swimming pool where she was staying, India Today reported.
She was admitted to the emergency department in the hospital.
She was later admitted to another private hospital on April 6 after her health deteriorated, where the alleged incident took place.
The woman told police that while she was unconscious and connected to life support, she sensed inappropriate physical contact from hospital staff but was unable to move, scream, or resist due to her critical condition, India Today reported.
She was reportedly discharged from the hospital on April 13.
She informed her husband about the alleged incident after returning home.
The couple later filed a case with the Sadar police station.
The Gurugram Police later filed a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
A police spokesperson told India Today: "We are taking this matter very seriously. Statements are being recorded, hospital staff are being questioned, and CCTV footage from the hospital premises is being reviewed."
