Amit Shah offers prayers at Ramanathaswamy temple in Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram
Rameswaram/UNI: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Saturday morning offered special prayers at the Sri Ramanathaswamy temple in this island town.
He was accompanied by Union Minister L.Murugan and senior BJP leaders.
Shah also performed special poojas to the Spatika linga at the temple as part of the special prayers.
The main entrance of the temple was closed for devotees in view of Mr Shah's visit due to security reasons and they were allowed entry through other gates.
Shah arrived here on Friday evening on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu.
Tight security arrangements were made in view of his visit.
Upon his arrival at Rameswaram by helicopter from Madurai, he launched the BJP's Lok Sabha poll padayatra to be led by party Tamil Nadu Unit President K.Annamalai to ensure that the Prime Minister returned to power for a third successive term.
Addressing a public meeting before participating in the yatra along with Mr Annamalai and senior BJP leaders, Mr Amit Shah launched a scathingattack on the ruling DMK and termed it as the most corrupt government in India.
While branding both the DMK and its ally, the Congress, as corrupt, he also questioned the continuance of Tamil Nadu Minister V.Senthilbalaji (without portfolio) in the State Cabinet after he was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case and now languishing in prison.
He also claimed that Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, will not accept the resignation of Mr Balaji--even if he offered to quit--as the corruption deals will come to light.
