Assembly elections: BJP set to win Tripura, Nagaland; lose Meghalaya, shows exit poll
New Delhi/IBNS: As the assembly elections held in three northeastern states concluded on Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to win in Tripura and Nagaland, while taste defeat in Meghalaya, as per the exit polls.
In Meghalaya, polling was held at 3,419 polling stations across 59 Assembly constituencies, while in Nagaland, voting was held in 59 out of 60 Assembly constituencies.
Tripura recorded nearly 88 per cent in the one-day assembly elections.
According to Zee News-Matrize exit poll, BJP will bag victory in Tripura with 29 to 36 votes.
The National People's Party will retain Meghalaya with 21 to 26 seats, according to Zee News-Matrize exit poll. It predicted eight to 13 seats for Trinamool and 6-11 for BJP.
Meanwhile, in Meghalaya, the BJP-NDPP coalition will bag 35-43 seats.
Congress will get around one to three seats and NPF two to five, it predicted.
India Today's exit poll shows BJP winning around 36-45 seats out of 60 assembly seats in Tripura with Tipra Motha behind with 9-16 seats.
The counting of votes will take place on March 2.
