At least six killed as passenger train hits goods train in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur
Raipur/IBNS: At least six people lost their lives and several others were injured when a passenger train collided with a goods train in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district on Tuesday.

The tragic incident occurred along the Bilaspur–Katni railway section, where the Korba passenger train collided with a parked freight train near the Lal Khadan area.
The force of the impact was so severe that several coaches of the passenger train climbed over one another, causing widespread panic among passengers and residents in the vicinity.
Following the crash, multiple compartments derailed, and the collision caused extensive damage to overhead electric lines and the signalling system, leading to a complete halt in train operations on the busy route.
Rescue ops underway

Emergency medical teams provided first aid and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals, while senior railway officials arrived to monitor the situation and coordinate recovery efforts.
Officials confirmed that several train services were either cancelled or diverted due to the disruption.
Additional medical units and disaster response teams have been deployed to assist victims and clear the debris.
Senior railway officials said that an investigation had been launched into the cause of the collision, while efforts were underway to repair the damaged tracks, restore the overhead lines, and resume train traffic on the affected section as soon as possible.
