Bangladesh govt approves four transit routes for India
The Bangladesh government has approved four transport routes for goods transfer to traders in Tripura and other northeastern states of India.
The four routes are Chittagong Port-Akhaura-Agartala, Mongla Port-Akhaura-Agartala, Chittagong-Bibirbazar-Srimantapur and Mongla Port- Bibirbazar-Srimantapur, reports Dhaka Tribune.
Tripura's Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma during a recent press conference was quoted as saying by the newspaper that India and Bangladesh have reached an agreement that Indian traders will be able to transport goods through the Chittagong and Mongla ports of Bangladesh.
In April this year, Bangladesh, India and Japan participated in the trilateral conference in the northeastern state of Tripura. Asian Influence, a research institute based in the Northeast of India, organized the event. Earlier, they conducted a survey, the newspaper reported.
The report suggested that India and Bangladesh should work towards one goal to facilitate trade.
