Bharat Bandh on Aug 21 against Supreme Court's reservation order. What's open & closed? All you need to know
Hyderabad/IBNS: The ‘Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti’ has called for a nationwide bandh call on Wednesday in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling on SC/ST reservations.

The bandh call has been called in demand for the reversal of the apex court’s decision and has garnered strong support.
The strike is, hence, expected to receive widespread participation.
What is the Supreme Court ruling on SC/ST reservations?
The Supreme Court ruling, that triggered the Bharat Bandh, allowed states to create sub-categories within the SC and ST groups.
It stated that those who need it should get priority in the reservation.
This decision is widely opposed by several political and social organisations who argue that the ruling undermines the purpose and principles of having reservations in place.
What is open and what is closed?
According to a Business Standard report, ambulance services, emergency, hospital, medical services, and pharmacies will remain open on Wednesday.
Schools, colleges, banks, and government offices will also function normally.
Meanwhile, all business organisations across the country have been asked to remain closed. However, it is unclear if markets will be shut down throughout the day as there have been no confirmations from any market committees so far.
