Cash row: Justice Yashwant Varma to face impeachment motion in next Parliament session, says report
The Centre is preparing to initiate impeachment proceedings against sitting High Court judge, Justice Yashwant Varma, who is facing allegations of corruption after the discovery of a huge stash of cash from his official residence in Delhi, NDTV reported, quoting top government sources.

The impeachment of a sitting judge is among the rarest and most sensitive procedures as per India's constitutional framework.
A motion seeking his removal will be brought in the upcoming session of Parliament, said reports.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju will consult with all political parties ahead of tabling the motion.
Sources told NDTV that cross-party consensus would be crucial, given the constitutional threshold required for the removal (impeachment) of a judge.
A series of meetings took place on Tuesday, possibly to chalk out the strategy for the impeachment motion, said reports.
Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal met Home Minister Amit Shah, following which the latter went to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shortly after, Rajya Sabha leader JP Nadda met Shah, and then the two leaders met Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.
What happened at Justice Varma's house?
A fire at Justice Varma's residential bungalow in March led to the recovery of a huge pile of unaccounted cash, prompting the Supreme Court collegium to transfer from the Delhi High Court to the Allahabad HC.
Justice Varma was out of town when a fire broke out at his residence. Justice Varma's family members had called the fire brigade.
But when the firefighters doused the fire, a huge pile of cash was discovered inside a room. Police were called by the firefighters.
