Delhi Girl, 6, allegedly sexually assaulted in school bus; DCW issues notice to police
New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Saturday issued notice to Delhi Police in the case of alleged sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl in a school bus in Begumpur here.
The Commission has sought a copy of the FIR along with details of the arrest made in the matter.
It has also asked whether an FIR has been registered against the Chairman, School Manager, Principal, Vice Principal and other school authorities under the POCSO Act for not reporting the matter to the police and revealing the identity of the child.
DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal said, “We have received a shocking case of sexual assault with a 6-year-old girl by a senior boy. The accused should be dealt with strictly. Action should be taken against the school authorities for trying to suppress the matter.”
The Commission has asked the police to produce an action taken report in the matter by September 5, DCW said in a statement.
According to the DCW, the mother of the girl informed that on August 23, when the school bus dropped her daughter at the society’s gate, she found that her daughter’s bag was wet with urine.
She alleged that on inquiry, the girl informed that a student studying in a senior class had been molesting her on the school bus.
The victim's mother said that she along with her husband went to the school on August 24, and informed the principal and vice principal of the school about the incident.
She alleged that on August 25, the school chairman called them and asked them to withdraw the complaint.
The victim's mother also alleged that the chairman of the school revealed the identity of the child.
