Drunk patient, his relatives allegedly assault female doctor in Mumbai hospital
A woman doctor was allegedly assaulted by a drunk patient and his relatives in Sion Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday, media reports said.
Resident doctors told NDTV that the attack took place at the hospital at around 3.30 am when the doctor was on duty in the ward.
According to reports, the patient came to the hospital with an injury on his face and while he was undergoing treatment his relatives started abusing the doctor.
The relatives of the patient were reportedly in an inebriated state.
According to reports, the doctor was injured while trying to defend herself.
"This is an incident of 3:30 in the morning today where a patient and some of his relatives reached the hospital in a drunk condition and got into a fight with the woman resident doctor. It is a matter of great concern that this is happening in Mumbai," Dr Akshay More, head of BMC MARD told NDTV.
The patient and the attackers fled the scene.
Kolkata doctor rape and murder
The incident in Mumbai came to light at a time when India is protesting against the rape and murder of a PG trainee doctor in Kolkata's state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
