Howrah sex racket: Arian-Shweta, mother-son duo accused of abducting women to shoot porn videos, arrested
Kolkata/IBNS: Arian Khan and his mother Shweta Khan, who are accused of kidnapping young women and shooting pornographic videos, were on Wednesday arrested by Howrah Police, media reports said.
While Arian, 33, was arrested from a house in Golfgreen, Shweta alias Phultusi was arrested from a hideout in Alipore on Wednesday afternoon.
Arian has been sent to nine days of police custody.
The crime has come to light after a 23-year-old woman from Sodepur escaped from an apartment in Howrah's Domjur where the mother-son had held her captive for six months.
After the woman, who was assaulted by the duo, reached her home, her family members filed a complaint with the police.
As per the complaint, Arian Khan had offered the woman a job in an event management company and money.
The woman had then moved to Howrah where she was held captive. She was assaulted for refusing to shoot pornographic videos.
As per reports, the mother-son duo ran a film production house which used to produce soft pornographic contents.
On the pretext of giving jobs, Shweta and Arian used to attract young women promising them meaty salaries.
The incident has taken a political angle too after Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Sukanta Majumdar shared a number of pictures where Shweta was seen with several ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders.
Shweta was seen with West Bengal minister Arup Roy and TMC leader Rajib Banerjee, both from Howrah, in the pictures prompting Majumdar to accuse Fultusi of having close political links to the ruling party.
"Where are the so-called feminists of Trinamool now? Where are the candle marches? Why is Bengal’s administration criminally silent on this barbarity? Because the Home Minister of Bengal is @MamataOfficial— and she has a long history of shielding such elements."

From Howrah, a case has emerged that exposes the rot in West Bengal’s law and order machinery.
A woman named Nandini Rao was abducted, tortured, and sexually assaulted for six months.
