Indian national allegedly urinates on fellow passenger in Delhi-Bangkok Air India flight
A drunk Indian national allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger in a Bangkok-bound Air India flight from New Delhi, media reports said.
Air India issued a statement where it said flight attendants followed all the laid-down procedures after the alleged incident happened mid-air.
“Air India confirms that an incident of unruly passenger behaviour was reported to the cabin crew operating flight AI2336, from Delhi to Bangkok, on 9 April 2025. The crew followed all laid down procedures, and the matter has been reported to the authorities," Air India said in the statement as quoted by Hindustan Times newspaper.
"In addition to warning the unruly passenger, our crew offered to assist an aggrieved passenger to take up a grievance with authorities in Bangkok, which was declined at the time. The standing Independent Committee will be convened to assess the incident and determine the action, if any, to be taken against the unruly passenger. Air India continues to follow the SOPs as laid out by DGCA in such matters,” the statement said.
Air India pee-gate episode
While it may seem like such incidents are rare, the reality is different. In a similar incident which was reported in 2023, a drunk man peed on his fellow female passenger on an Air India flight that was travelling from the US to India.
A police complaint was lodged against the man after the incident came to light.
Shankar Mishra was arrested but later granted bail.
According to reports, Air India even put Mishra on its ‘no-fly’ list for urinating on an elderly female co-passenger on November 26, 2022.
Mishra, who worked as the vice-president of the India chapter of Wells Fargo, was sacked by the American multinational financial services firm.
