Jammu and Kashmir voting: 56.01 pct voters cast vote till 3 pm
Jammu and Kashmir witnessed 56.01 percent of voters exercising their franchise till 3 pm in the third phase of the assembly polls on Tuesday.
Polling is taking place across 40 Assembly constituencies in the UT.
This is the first time the UT is voting to elect a new assembly ever since the Centre scrapped Article 370 in 2019.
District-wise voting data released by the election office showed that till 3 pm, the highest turnout of 64.43 percent was recorded in Udhampur. The lowest turnout of 46.09 percent was recorded in Baramulla district, reported UNI news agency.
Voting turnout in Bandipore district till 3 pm was 53.09 percent, Jammu 56.74 percent, Kathua 62.43 percent, Kupwara 52.98 percent and Samba 63.24 percent, the news agency reported.
The results of the 90-seat assembly polls will be declared on October 9.
According to reports, 39,18,220 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in this phase.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to vote in huge numbers in the polls.
