‘Kill him by evening’: Shocking cop provocation alleged in Nanded honour killing as woman ‘marries’ lover’s corpse
In a chilling twist to the Nanded honour killing case, 21-year-old Anchal Mamidwar has accused two Maharashtra policemen of egging on her brothers to murder her boyfriend, 20-year-old Saksham Tate, over their inter-caste relationship.
Days after his brutal killing, heartbreaking visuals of Anchal “marrying” Saksham’s corpse have stunned the nation.
Speaking to NDTV, a visibly shattered Anchal revealed that her family, who had pretended to accept the couple’s three-year relationship, allegedly conspired behind their backs.
“My brothers promised they would organise our wedding. But they betrayed us at the last moment,” she said.
Anchal claims her brother took her to the police station hours before the murder and tried to force her to file a false case against Saksham.
When she refused, she alleges the two policemen—Dheeraj Komalwar and Maheet Asarwar—told her brother, “You keep coming here after killing people. Why don’t you kill the man your sister is involved with?”
Her brother allegedly responded, saying: “Okay, I will kill him by evening and come.”
Anchal says her family often mocked Saksham for being a “Jai Bhimwala”, a term associated with Dalit identity, and pressured him to convert to “Hindu Dharma” to marry her.
Saksham, she says, was willing to do anything for their future.
On Thursday evening, an argument started by Anchal’s brother Himesh Mamidwar spiraled into violence.
Himesh allegedly shot Saksham, the bullet hitting his ribs, before smashing a tile on his head and killing him instantly.
Himesh, his brother Sahil, their father Gajanan, and three others have been arrested under murder charges, the SC/ST Act, and the Arms Act.
Funeral becomes ‘wedding’
The next day, as Saksham’s family prepared for his last rites, Anchal arrived — dressed like a bride. In an emotional breakdown, she performed wedding rituals with his body, declaring she would now live with his family forever.
“My father and brothers killed him because of caste. They always said, ‘We are gangsters, how dare he talk to our daughter?’ I want justice. I want them to be hanged,” she said through tears.
Her family has reportedly shut their doors on her permanently.
Clinging to Saksham’s grieving family, Anchal says she is determined to fight till justice is served.
“So many people are with me. People should not be killed over caste,” she said.
