The Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday took up the probe into the corruption charges against former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Principal Sandip Ghosh, who has been making the headlines ever since the body of the PG trainee doctor was recovered from the state-run medical facility.
The rape and murder of the doctor has triggered a nationwide protest ever since her body was recovered from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital earlier this month.
According to the Kolkata Police, all documents related to the alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Hospital have been transferred to the CBI by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), following a court order, reported Hindustan Times.
The Calcutta High Court earlier assigned the probe into the financial irregularities involving Ghosh to the CBI.
CCTV footage shows arrested civic volunteer Sanjoy Roy with earphones at crime scene
Meanwhile, civic volunteer Sanjoy Roy, who has been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was spotted at the crime scene on CCTV, media reports said.
Sanjoy was spotted with a Bluetooth earphone suspended from his neck.
The investigators have released the footage from the crime scene.
The Bluetooth headphone had served as a clue for the Kolkata Police, which had arrested Sanjoy, who had admitted to the crime.
Sanjoy reportedly visited Sonagachi (red light area) and then visited two brothels and drank alcohol before committing the crime.
He then reached the hospital at 1:03 am on the night the medical student was raped and murdered.
Sanjoy was also spotted leaving the seminar room where the crime was committed.
