Kolkata professor found dead with his hand and throat slit in Uttarakhand hotel
Kolkata/IBNS: A professor from Kolkata's Jadavpur University was discovered dead at a hotel in Uttarakhand, where he went for a short trip with his friends, media reports said.

The professor was found with his hand and throat slit.
Mainak Pal, 44, had decided to return to Kolkata while his friends, who were two in number, carried on with the trip.
Pal had reportedly said he wanted to head back to Kolkata as he was missing his daughter. He is survived by his wife, daughter and parents.
Police suspect he may have died by suicide.
He checked into a hotel in Lalkuan while his friends went ahead with the trip.
After his family failed to establish contact with Pal, they rang the hotel authorities who broke open the door of the professor's room and found his body in the bathroom.
Blood was smeared on the floor of the bathroom.
