Mallikarjun Kharge unveils 'Abhaya Hastham' manifesto for Telangana Assembly election
Hyderabad/IBNS/UNI: AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge released the 42-page Telangana Congress election manifesto titled "Abhaya Hastham" on Friday for the November 30 assembly election.
State Affairs Incharge Mani Rao Thackeray, TPCC President Revanth Reddy, CLP Leader Bhatti Vikramarka, Manifesto Committee Chairman Sridhar Babu, and other dignitaries participated in the program.
Kharge, speaking at the event, assured the implementation of the election manifesto.
He announced that akin to Karnataka's five guarantees, the Congress in Telangana pledges to fulfill six guarantees within the first 100 days if they come to power. Kharge emphasized that these guarantees would be passed in the inaugural cabinet meeting.
He criticised the BJP for its criticism of the BRS and noted the unusual lack of criticism between CM KCR and PM Modi. Kharge suggested that the time has come for KCR to retire due to the necessity of his defeat.
The manifesto includes promises beyond the six guarantees, such as the abolition of 'Dharani' and the introduction of the 'Bhu Mata' portal, the formation of a Land Commission to address land rights issues, full rights on 25 lakh acres distributed to the poor, financial aid for tenant farmers and agricultural laborers, among other initiatives.
The manifesto outlines commitments to the agricultural sector, including a one-time crop loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh, interest-free loans up to Rs 3 lakh, comprehensive insurance for major crops, and 24-hour power supply for cultivation. The Congress also pledged to cancel the CPS and introduce OPS.
Other commitments mentioned in the manifesto include the payment of pending DAs to employees and pensioners, the introduction of a new PRC within six months, and "Indiramma's gift" for eligible young women during marriage, including Rs. 1 lakh cash and 10 grams of gold.
The manifesto promises an inquiry into corruption in the Kaleswaram project by a sitting judge of the High Court, implementation of reservations for SCs and STs in private sectors receiving government incentives, filling 2 lakh government jobs, and setting up four IIITs.
Additional promises cover financial support and job opportunities for the families of Telangana martyrs, revisions to the excise policy, a ban on liquor shops near religious places and educational institutions, and housing benefits for SC and ST families.
The Congress manifesto also outlines provisions for healthcare, journalism welfare, disabled persons, modernization of government hospitals, and other social and economic initiatives.
TPCC President Revanth Reddy emphasized the significance of the election manifesto for the Congress party, likening it to sacred texts and expressing confidence that the Telangana statehood movement aspirations would be fulfilled.
He urged the public to give Congress a chance to express gratitude to Sonia Gandhi for granting separate statehood.
