Mufti was detained at the Ghatkopar Police Station in Mumbai prompting his hundreds of supporters to protest outside demanding his release.

As the mob was relentless in protesting outside the police station, Mufti appeared and requested them to stop the agitation.

"Do not lose mind in the heat of the moment. I am neither a criminal nor have I been brought here for any crime. I am cooperating with the investigation. I am ready to face arrest if it's in my destiny," said Mufti trying to calm his supporters.

Prior to Mufti's detention, two local organisers- Mohammad Yousuf Malek and Azim Habib Odedara- were arrested after the preacher's speech at Gujarat's Junagadh went viral on social media.

With the help of Maharashtra Police, the Gujarat Police's officers reached Mufti's residence in civilian clothes on Sunday morning.

Mufti has been taken by the Gujarat Police to Junagadh on a two-day transit remand, India Today reported.
