Noida horror: Woman shot dead in her room by alleged lover for refusing marriage proposal, killer on the run
A 25-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her male friend at her rented accommodation in Noida’s Yakubpur on Friday evening, police said on Saturday.
The suspect, identified as Krishna Kumar (25) from Bihar, is currently absconding.
Police said the woman, originally from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, lived with her two sisters and a brother in the rented house.
She and Krishna, who had known each other for over two years and were reportedly in a relationship, both worked housekeeping jobs in Noida.
According to investigators, Krishna arrived at the house around 7:30pm, went straight to the woman’s room, and allegedly shot her after what is believed to have been an argument. The woman’s sisters were present in the house at the time but were unharmed.
“Police were informed through the 112 helpline. Our team and forensic experts reached the spot immediately,” Hindustan Times reported quoting Umesh Yadav, assistant commissioner of police (Central Noida). The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
While the family claimed multiple shots were fired, police said only one bullet struck the victim. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a forensic examination of the room has been completed.
Vindyachal Tiwari, SHO of Phase-2 police station, said officers are still investigating the cause of the argument that preceded the incident.
“Multiple teams are searching for the absconding suspect,” said Shakti Mohan Avasthy, DCP (Central Noida).
An FIR has been registered under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
