Opposition aims to make their relatives CMs while PM Modi strengthens poor, farmers: Amit Shah
Muzaffarnagar (UP)/IBNS/UNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah Wednesday attacked the opposition parties ridiculing their aims and aspirations while slamming them for pursuing their single-minded agenda to position their relatives or family members as chief minister or prime minister.
Addressing a public meeting in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, the Union Minister said, "The motive of the members of the 'Ghamandia' (conceited) alliance is to make their kin CMs and PM. Whereas the motive of PM Modi is to uplift the farmers, the poor, labourers, and the Dalits and to make them stand on their feet."
He said that in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, those who committed scams, frauds, and corruption worth Rs 12 lakh crore have joined hands.
"On the day when PM Modi came to attend the Gaurav Samaroh of Chaudhary Charan Singh, on the same day, these people organized a rally of the corrupt and talked about protecting the corrupt," he said alluding to the ‘maharally’ that took place in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on March 31 protesting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, and also the “misuse” of central probe agencies against Opposition leaders by the BJP ruled Centre.
Shah said, "In 2014, PM Modi said that those who were involved in corruption would go to jail. In 2024, he is again saying that those who have committed corruption will be behind bars."
Addressing the people in the sugarcane belt of Uttar Pradesh, he said that this election is about making Modi the PM for the third consecutive term.
"Modi Ji has done a lot of work for the upliftment of the poor and the farmers. He made a national policy for sugarcane and made several changes," he said.
The Union Minister said that whereas under the Congress government, the minimum support price (MSP) of cane was Rs 210 per quintal, the Modi government hiked it to Rs 340 per quintal.
"As far as the payment of cane is concerned, the average payment between 1995 and 2017 was Rs 23,000 crore. The BJP government has done the work of ensuring payment of Rs 2.50 lakh crore today," he said.
He said that while 19 sugar mills in UP were closed during the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) regime, 10 were shut down during the Samajwadi Party's regime of the Akhilesh government. "During the BJP government, 20 sugar mills have been started and five have been constructed," he said.
Shah said, "We brought the ethanol policy. In 2014–15, ethanol was not mixed with petrol. Compared to that, today, 156 crore litres are being mixed with petrol. This has increased the income of the farmers."
He said that Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav's party and Congress never wanted the Ram temple to be constructed in Ayodhya.
"Congress kept the matter on the back burner for 70 years. Modiji not only won the case; he also performed the bhoomi pujan of the temple, and on January 22, he consecrated Ram Lalla in his temple. The PM has made the country secure and prosperous," he said.
The Union Minister said that when he was in charge of UP in 2014, migration of the people started from Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, and Saharanpur.
"No one was safe here. In 2017, when you formed the BJP government in the state, the Yogi government ended the terror of goons and stopped migration. It made the people feel secure. Today, instead of innocent people, goons are migrating from the state. The BJP government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath created such a situation in UP," said he.
