The incident drew worldwide condemnation.
Pahalgam Attack
It was the first major terror attack registered in Jammu and Kashmir since the Pahalgam incident in 2019.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 when Indian Armed Forces targeted nine terror hubs in PoK and Pakistan in response to the killing of 26 tourists by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22.
Pakistan targeted several Indian cities with drones and missiles, which were neutralised by India's state-of-the-art air defence system. India dealt a heavy blow to Pakistan, targeting its air bases and air defence system.
India Expels Pakistani Official
The Indian government on Tuesday expelled a Pakistani diplomat, who was working in the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, citing alleged involvement in espionage activities.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said: "The Government of India has declared a Pakistani official, working at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, persona non grata for indulging in activities not in keeping with his official status in India."
"The official has been asked to leave India within 24 hours. Charge d’ Affaires, Pakistan High Commission, was issued a demarche to this effect today," the statement further said.
The official has been expelled at a time when India and Pakistan are engaged in a conflict and holding a fragile ceasefire.
