PM Modi pays homage to Rabindranath Tagore's bust in Buenos Aires, calls Argentina visit 'productive'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid his homage and floral tribute at the bust of the world poet Rabindranath Tagore in Buenos Aires as part of his visit to Argentina.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, "Paid homage to Gurudev Tagore in Buenos Aires. Gurudev Tagore had visited Argentina in 1924 and had left a lasting impression on the minds of many people in this nation, especially scholars and students."
"We in India take immense pride in the contributions of Gurudev Tagore to our nation’s history and culture. His emphasis on learning and education is also very motivating," he said.

Modi was also conferred with the Key to the City of Buenos Aires by Jorge Macri, Chief of the City Government of Buenos Aires.
"Honoured to receive the Key to the City of Buenos Aires from Mr. Jorge Macri, Chief of the City Government of Buenos Aires. @jorgemacri," he wrote.

He earlier met with the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, who accorded him a ceremonial welcome on arrival at Casa Rosada.
PM Modi's visit assumes significance as it happens to be the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina after a gap of 57 years.

This is a seminal year for India-Argentina ties as the two countries celebrate 75 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties. Prime Minister thanked President Milei for the gracious hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
The two leaders met in restricted and delegation-level formats. They held extensive discussions and reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations. They called for enhancing cooperation in the fields of critical minerals, oil & gas, defence, nuclear energy, agriculture, science & technology, among others.
He thanked President Milei for the strong condemnation of the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam and appreciated Argentina’s solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism.
The two leaders agreed that terrorism poses a grave threat to humanity and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the global fight against the menace.
The leaders agreed to continue working closely to strengthen the strategic partnership. They called for giving greater voice to the concerns of the Global South.
